I've found this site through a thread over on P.ie.
It has a collection of pictures of the breath-taking pace of building projects being completed and instigated there. Our building boom of 2003-06 is a damp squib in comparison. Dubai is doing it bigger and madder than anywhere else, and that includes you China!

Republican White House hopeful John McCain has said he is suspending
his campaign and returning to Washington to help deal with the economic
crisis.
And he called for a TV debate with Democratic rival Barack Obama, scheduled for Friday, to be delayed.

UK to "Semi-Nationalise" Banks; £50 Billion gets pumped in.
The UK government has announced details of a rescue package for the banking system worth at least £50bn.
It will initially make the extra capital available to eight of the UK's largest banks and building societies.
In return for the funding, the government will receive preference shares in those institutions.
